The switch to Typepad

By in Uncategorized

I’ve hopped over to Typepad for my blogging needs. The Web URL is still the same:

www.UncommonSenseForSoftware.com

… because I’ve remapped the domain to point to Typepad. However, the RSS feed URL has changed to:

www.UncommonSenseForSoftware.com/index.rdf

Please update your feed readers with the new feed!

Happy trails,

Craig.

  1. Just curious, but was wondering what the deal was with the blog redesign? It looks OK, though it seems to lack a few of the bells and whistles of the old site.

  2. Hey Zach,
The visual re-design was intended to make it at least look like it comes from the same Devshop family, even though it’s my own personal blog. Plus, I just liked it ;) .
As for switching to Typepad, I started in Blogger a year ago because I wasn’t sure about blogging yet and just wanted to give it a try (for free!). I got into it, but then realized the importance of having your own domain name and at the time, Blogger didn’t support that. So I moved to Typo because my friends at JadedPixel offered to host it for me. This was a step up, but recently, as blogging has become much more important to me, I’ve come to desire a directly suppored commercial app rather than a host-it-yourself route. I want access to the app so I can do my thing, but I don’t want to have to figure much out on my own. For a modest fee, I’d much rather hand it off to a group of people who’s full-time job is to just “make it work”.
So that’s why the move to Typepad. It has the nicest user interface of any blogging tool I’ve seen, and I can actually email support if I have a question or idea. And they’re actually paid to get back to me in a reasonable amount of time. That’s important to me. I may have lost a couple small product features in the move, but the overall experience and productivity has increased, so it’s a good trade in my eyes.
